An Open Letter To Whom It Concerns

Dear person who came up with the idea of the “romantic” breakfast in bed, please do us all a favor, and inform everyone that you are in fact a caregiver at a nursing home and that there is actually no romance involved with eating meals in bed. Please save some husbands and children some effort by explaining that unless you are bed ridden, meals, including ones on Valentines day and Mothers Day, should be eaten in the proper place, aka the table. I feel that I am not alone in my hatred of dirt, crumbs, liquids, and bugs in my bed. I believe your silence has led to thousands of like-minded women suffering through burnt toast in bed and cursing every crumb that falls while trying not to spill scalding coffee with not enough sugar all over our clean sheets that were just put on the day before. There are plenty of romantic things to do in bed, but breakfast is just not one of them. Please, for the love of a good night’s sleep without waking up with scrambled egg stuck to our back, tell the world who you really are and who really needs to eat breakfast in bed.

Dear person who invented Double Stuffed Oreos, I hate you. We are not friends. That is all.

Dear bowling alley owner, my family came to your place of business a few weeks ago. We were the family with two young boys who were itching for something fun to do and two parents who would rather throw our backs out playing a lame game of bowling than go to Monkey Joe’s or Chuck E Cheese’s. You don’t remember us? Oh, well that’s probably because we left immediately upon finding out that it would cost our family over $64 to bowl for two hours. I’m sorry but WHAT THE WHAT? The game is not THAT fun, and please don’t forget that you have to wear nasty-a shoes the whole time! Oh and you also have to deal with all the drunk people who were CLEARLY drunk before they came to your establishment because they willingly forked out all of that $$ on bowling... b-o-w-l-i-n-g! Yeah, the Ogdens will stick to bowling on the Wii. :) I'm sure you will do just find without our business.

Dear people who went to said bowling establishment and thought that $16 per person (adult or child) was an acceptable charge, what is wrong with you? Also, where do you work and do they have any openings? I’m talking to a lot of people here, because there was a freaking wait-ing list for a lane! There are 56 lanes! Please help me understand why our country is in a recession, people are complaining left and right about being broke and jobless and yet you people are WAIT-ING to pay gobs of money for this game. I. Do. Not. Understand. You.

Dear company who makes leather cleaner, you disappoint me. Let me explain. Weeks ago, my son drew a picture. While I normally appreciate my children’s creativity, I was not very fond of this piece of artwork, because the canvas was the seat of my favorite, cream colored, comfy, leather arm chair and the medium of choice was a blue ball point pen. After shamefully flipping my lid upon discovery of this new piece of art, I went to work on getting rid of it. I looked to your company’s product to make it all better. I slathered and scrubbed and yet your product failed me. I even went for the last resort of alcohol. No, no, not to drink... although that may have helped in other ways. I applied alcohol to the leather. That did get rid of some of the ink but it also bleached the color of my leather. I gave up and resigned to the fact that we just can’t have anything nice. Here is what I was left with...

Now that many weeks have passed, I believe I have found a better “art removing” solution, and I would like to help your company (even though you did not help me) by passing on this bit of advice free of charge. Please note this picture from today...

I’m sure you must be astonished by the stark contrast from the photo above and are wondering how in the world I managed such a remarkable improvement. Here’s the answer: My butt. Yes, you read that correctly. I sit in this chair daily to do my devotional and apparently all my leather needed was a good booty rub for 20-30 minutes a day. Feel free to add this cleaning tip to all your leather cleaning products. Your welcome.

Dear teacher who assigned my 7 year old child a report, I understand that you are working very hard to develop my child’s research, writing and public speaking skills. Thank you for your dedication to my child’s educational development. However, I have two complaints.

Firstly, you MUST have purposely picked my busiest week ever to assign this report. Therefore I can only assume that you hated the handmade soaps I gave you for Christmas. Noted.

Secondly, I’m not sure you thought things through very well. You wanted my child to write a report on a historical African American figure of our choice that includes the following information: “Tell when and where the person was born, died, any interesting facts about his/her life, and tell what accomplishments and why this person is important to the history of our country. Describe some of his/her most important historical contributions. You may discuss interesting facts that you learned about this famous African American.” You wanted us to include a rough draft. Was this last paragraph your example of what a rough draft looks like, because it was not clearly marked as an example, but surely this is not your best work. Also, you wanted my child to include all this information but you expected “the final paper [to] be written on the attached paper” which consisted of about 10 primary writing lines. Let’s be honest... you knew that wouldn’t work. Thank you for helping me work on my fine motor skills as I was forced to draw out four more pages of primary writing lines.

I give you a C- for this assignment and will be sure you don’t ever get anymore of my yummy olive oil soaps.

Dear people who read my blog, I still think you are at least somewhat mentally unstable for doing so, but I really, really appreciate that you took the time to read my open letter. Now, please also take the time and view our Both Hands project page!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Ogden

Summer Greetings!

Once again I’ve come to place where I have a whole lot to say but don’t really know how to get it all out. I keep typing stuff and then deleting it. I DO NOT LIKE THIS PLACE!!! And you, my poor readers, are the ones that suffer, because you go months without being able to read my intriguing, highly intellectual and moving words. Life is just so hard sometimes.

Just today, a friend (who shall remain nameless but it starts with “C” and ends with a “laire”) came up to me crying at a baby shower saying that she was still not able to log into my blog. I tried to console her, but it was pretty useless. Seeing how distraught she was, I realized how much people really NEED to read my blog! I went in the bathroom, slapped myself and determined that for the sake of my readers, I MUST write a blog today. So here I am!

It’s summer y’all! I got no schedules to keep and a whole lot of busy to fill in where the schedules used to be. So, for the sake of my readers I will write a blog, but for the sake of my sanity I will make it a radom thoughts post. Yep, intriguing and highly intellectual all the way!

Random thought #1 - Just in case you haven’t figured it out, I love sarcasm. Sarcasm is my love language... with words of affirmation coming in second. Do you see how messed up that is? Lance has a very fine line to walk. Poor man.

Random thought #2 - My house is clean. You can make an appointment to view this miracle anyti... whoops, I spoke too soon. Give me a few hours...

Random thought #3 - I will freely admit that I am slightly addicted to Candy Crush. Stupid peer pressure. Maybe those people who come to elementary schools to talk to kids about rejecting peer pressure and not doing drugs should also come to our businesses, malls, churches, etc and talk to adults about rejecting peer pressure and not playing Candy Crush. I think I feel a new business venture being birthed. My point is that I am on level 158 and I pretty sure I’m done with the whole mess. The little chocolate machines... yeah those are just not fair.

Random thought #4 - Speaking of not fair, I’m really, really tired of hearing about the whole Zimmerman case. He was tried before a jury of his peers and whether or not I agree with the verdict, it is done. I wish our President would get on national television and talk about the TOP killer of African Americans... abortion. A lot of those millions of innocent babies would have looked like him... could have been him, too. End rant.

Random thought #5 - I am loving this summer! I’m not sure if it’s because this very well may be the last summer I have with JUST my boys, but I am really enjoying my time with them. We cuddle a lot. It’s fun.

The other day, the whole family cuddled (sort of). It was fun. <--- See highly intellectual right here! Excuse my annoyingly loud laughing and FYI Asher was completely ok at the end.

Random thought #6 - I made some chipotle chicken lettuce wraps the other day that would make you slap your momma. They were pretty darn spicy but they were oh so good. Here’s the recipe: Slap Yo Momma Lettuce Wraps

Random thought #7 - We went to the Aquarium this past Wednesday. People in the south apparently really like fish, because it was crowsy. Oh yeah, I guess I should mention that Brayden introduced us to a new word: crowsy: adj. to be crazy crowded.

Random thought #8 - Since we are on the subject of [Country in Asia], our friends, Gwen and Todd, just got home from picking up their beautiful daughter, Shanti. She is precious and I am so happy for them. My heart was so full seeing the pictures of this sweet family all together after such a long journey. It was a bit of a bonus (ok a LOT of a bonus) for our family that Shanti was in the same orphanage as our girls. They are friends!! Gwen and Todd were able to lay eyes on our girls and it’s so amazing how something as simple as that can warm this momma’s heart. We also heard there are pictures! EEEEEK! I can’t wait to see them! Here's one of K and Shanti together that our friend Aimee took several months back.

Radom thought #9 - The Lord has truly been gracious to us over the last few months. This roller coaster has been quite the ride, and I know without the grace and goodness of God I would have surely been thrown from the cart. One day soon I will blog specifically about this, but I am finding more and more that this adoption really isn’t just about the adoption. God is refining us in a really intense way. We’ve never gone through this type of fire. I can’t say I enjoy it but I can certainly see that God is doing a good thing in our hearts. If you want God to totally mess you up (in a good way), say “yes” to something crazy like adopting 3 kids.

Well y'all, I think that’s enough random for today. Your welcome! ;-)

Until next time! -K

Saturday Randomness

Today I thought I would do a “random thoughts” post because I have LOTS of random thoughts and because it makes for a super easy post. I ain’t gonna lie... I’ve got a lot to do today, so I gotta knock this out while I drink my coffee. Normally I drink Spark, but this morning I was craving a nice, big, dark, delicious cup of French pressed coffee.

See my favorite handmade mug? And my hotplate?

Since this a “random thoughts” post I feel I have the freedom to now share my thoughts on French pressed coffee. I love it! It took me a while to find the magic mixture of coffee, water and time, but now that I have that down, I seriously do love my French press! I know this sounds weird, but I like how it makes the coffee “dirty”. It’s like it’s more earthy or something. Am I just a strange bird or do other people like this too? I don’t, however, enjoy cleaning my French press. That sucks.

Speaking of cleaning that sucks... The day that my boys learn to get ALL of their pee inside the toilet will be one of the happiest days of my life! I walked in the bathroom the other day while Asher was doing his thing and noticed that doing his thing meant painting the walls with urine. Want to see Mommy snap? Paint the walls with urine. *Sighs* Yeah, I hope that day comes in this decade.

Moving on... I’ve lost almost 15 lbs in the two weeks since our “roller coaster” started. While I am all for losing 15 lbs, I don’t really recommend doing it the stress and anxiety route. Some people eat when they are stressed or depressed, but not me. I stop eating and start sleeping. Things are better, though. My anxiety level has GREATLY decreased and I’ve started eating again. Lance and I came to a decision on some things, and God has given me a lot of peace about it. I still don’t have all the answers and I know that things may change in the future, but I really am at peace (which feels soooo much better). Thank you to those of you who have been praying for us and supporting us!

This has been helpful!

I’m going to go down a spiritual rabbit trail for a moment... A while back, I read on one of the blogs I stalk about spiritual warfare during adoption. I thought it was an interesting post and something I had not thought of much before we started the adoption process. Just to give you a little background info, I am sort of a spiritual mutt. As a young child I grew up in a very charismatic non-denominational church and then we moved to an Assembly of God Church where I spent all the years leading up to me and Lance getting married. After we got married, we went with a new church plant that started out AG but is now non-denominational and pretty similar to Presbyterian. The pendulum has swung pretty wide for me. While I have seen God grow me tremendously through this shift, I am a fairly strange mix theologically because of the things I have personally experienced.

I say all of that to say I’ve seen and experienced things in my life that will not allow me to dismiss the truth of spiritual warfare, and boys and girls, let me say this... adoption is indeed spiritual war! When I read that post months ago I just kind of tucked the warnings away in the back of my mind but over the last month I am absolutely, positively convinced that there are spiritual forces that hate adoption and we are officially in their crosshairs. I’m not going to go into all the acts of war against our adoption but whoever our children are, they are hated by the enemy and we best be putting on our armor because we are going into battle.

Ok, I’m done with that random thought. Here’s a less serious one for you. I want to go to the beach. We didn’t go to the beach at all last year and I N-E-E-D some sand between my toes and the sound of the ocean in my ears. My side of the family is planning a week long trip to somewhere on the gulf coast in June and I cannot wait! Lance, on the other hand, can totally wait. He hates the beach. Sorry babe, but we are going to the beach! Momma needs it!

A shot I took on our last beach trip in 2011.

Since I mentioned Lance, here’s my final random thought; the Lord has blessed me with a totally awesome husband. I know I touched on this a bit in my last post, but he really is wonderful! He may not be the “tool time” guy who has all the handyman skills and can build/fix anything but he’s still got “handyman” skills if you know what I mean. He may not be the sophisticated business man type but he gets down to “business” if you know what I mean. Ok, I will stop embarrassing the poor man. He’s gonna kill me when he reads this. But seriously, I love that God handpicked this amazing man for me. He is an awesome husband and father! He is a blessing... if you know what I mean! :)

Until next time! -K

N-O-V-E-M-B-E-R

I guess I took a bit of a break from blogging. Sorry. :) I wish I was better at posting more frequently, but sometimes it just ain’t happenin.

I hope you guys had a great October, and hopefully none of your children went into a sugar coma! That month went by crazy fast, right? It will be Christmas before we can blink an eye.

I thought I would be ubber cheesy today and do an acronym for November. So this is a random thoughts post since I am just going to make stuff up to fit the acronym. That’s what people do right?

N - November (I think using the acronym word in the acronym is a no-no but deal with it!) is Adoption Awareness Month.

We don’t have much of an update on our own adoption other than we are getting closer to starting our home study. I’m really praying we can start earlier than January.

I never had the pleasure or pain of “trying” to have a baby. Both of my boys were sweet surprises. However, the last few days I have felt what I imagine may be similar to the pain of a woman with a barren womb. I want so badly to have my girls... to love them and care for them. I see other adoptive moms who have faces to match with the love they feel in their hearts, and I feel very barren. I would never have dreamed that I would have this longing for two children who have no blood relation to me and who live on the other side of the world. I know that this process will take a long time and in God’s perfect timing I will have those faces, but oh it’s so hard for this impatient momma to wait... and we've only just begun.

So, in the mean time I read a ton of articles/blogs and watch a ton of YouTube videos about adoption, [country in Asia], adoption stories, interracial families, etc.

Here is one I found this morning. I cried. So sweet!

O - Obama... no, totally kidding. I’m not going there. However, I read an old puritan quote by John Newton that came in my Grace Gems email.

“The whole system of my politics is summed up in this one verse, ‘The Lord reigns! Let the nations tremble!’ Psalm 99:1”
Amen!
V - Veggies are my BEST FRIENDS for the next 10 days. I started an AdvoCare herbal cleanse today, because over the last month I have been a sugar whore and have said yes to any sweet that crossed my path... and I liked it way too much. Soooo nothing like a good cleanse to trim that waistline and feel cleaner. Wish me luck!

Oh and “V” is for Vegas, too! I am heading to Vegas this month with a few friends to photograph a huge travel agent convention. This is my first trip to Vegas, so I’m excited. I’m not a big gambler, so no body needs to worry that I am going to gamble away all of our adoption funds. :) But how stinkin cool would it be if I played a slot one time and won $50,000! I would be the crazy girl screaming, “Oh, PRAISE JESUS!”

E - Eggheads... that’s who we have driving on the roads in Columbus, GA! During rush hour yesterday, we about died on the interstate because the people in front of us decided it made perfect sense to slam on breaks in the middle lane because people in the right lane were exiting. I'm going to move on before I sin...

M - Moving again! It seems as if we are playing musical houses! Yes, we found out that we CAN stay in the house we own, but after talking it over, we agreed that we probably needed to move back to the house that Lance’s dad owns and sell ours. It would give us double the space and double the bathrooms (we only have one here). I REALLY do not want to move, but we think it’s the best option right now. We are praying that our house will sell quickly this time around.

B - Beards are manly and sexy... unless they are gross. I love Lance’s beard. It’s “No Shave November” and so all these normally clean-shaven men are attempting to grow beards. There is no attempting for Lance... his is good to go. I did ask him to trim it down a while back. We had been watching "Eureka" (awesome show by the way) and the character Nathan had a closely trimmed beard. I liked it... on him... not on Lance. So, he grew it back out. Much better.

E - Every preschool class must go to the Pumpkin Patch. Asher’s class was no exception. He is so cute and sweet. I love my boys!

R - Reading is for people who have lots of free time... I am not one of those people, but I wish I were so I could finish some books. I’ve been reading the “Game of Thrones” books thanks to our friend Brandon. The first one was great and I’m enjoying the second one, but I just cannot find the time to read that dang book! I’m about halfway through.

I also started reading a parenting book by John Rosemond called “Family of Value". I've only gotten through the first chapter, but so far I agree with it. Don’t ask me what it was about... I don’t recall now... I just know I agreed.

Then of course I really want to read my Bible more... I need the Lord to give me discipline regarding this. I’ve been doing a Bible study on the book of James with a group of ladies at our church and that has been great... when I get to go. This was a verse that stood out to me big time in James:

Can anyone else say, “Ouch!”?

Well, y’all. This is where I have to say goodbye and go clean my house. I’ve got a sink full of dishes and about 150 crushed CoCo Puffs on the kitchen floor. I’ll stop the description there.

Until next time! - K

I'm Still Kickin!

Here I am on my knees, begging you to forgive me for not posting anything in forever! Well, I’m not really on my knees. That would make typing really hard, but you get my point. I really have been a horrible blogger and I apologize for that.

Honestly (ask Lance), I’ve actually written about half a dozen incomplete posts and for some reason or another I just decided I didn’t want to finish them. I guess they just were not meant to be. Says the Calvinist in me. :)

Since it has been sooooo stinkin long since my last post, I will do a random update post for you with lots of little tid bits (what is a “tid bit” anyways?) of things going on in our lives.

Let me start with Luther, because I know you guys probably think I’ve already killed the dog and THAT is the reason I haven’t posted anything about him.

I assure you he is alive and well. See...

Cute as ever! He is a sweet dog and I’m quite fond of him. However, he has not gotten better about getting up during the night. In fact, it’s gotten worse! He loves our German Shepherd, Bella, and while I’m not sure the feeling is mutual, he really likes to go in the backyard and play with her. He REALLY enjoys spending time with her around 3:00am. He chewed up one of my dress shoes, but thankfully it was the pair that gives me blisters so I’m ok with it. He likes cat food more than dog food. He also loves a good belly rub... it’s so cute.

The boys started school a few weeks ago. Brayden is in kindergarten at a public school and Asher is going four days a week at the private pre-school they’ve been at. Both are doing great! Don’t they look all grown up on their first day of school?

I do have one gripe though about kindergarten/public school. NONE of my mommy friends with kids in public school told me all the crap you had to bring or all the hoops you have to jump through to get your kid registered! And while the school sent us a large stack of information (printed on both sides mind you), which I read through at least twice, I still did not have everything that was required. I am going to be a GOOD friend and tell other mommies of the complicated process of kindergarten registration and starting public school. Here’s a few quick tips to start:

  • Buy three of every school supply available at Target and go as soon as you see the displays.
  • Go ahead and invest in cases of Kleenex and hand sanitizer.
  • Send a blank check with your child for all the extra stuff they hit you up for.
  • Prepare for the guilt trip that is PTA.
  • Find a good book to start reading while you wait 30 minutes in the pick up line.
  • Get used to homework... in kindergarten.
  • Create a red light green light system at home because apparently it causes an angelic effect in children at school.

Asher is FI-NAL-Y potty trained!! Whew! I never thought both of us would come out alive. My bathroom still smells of little boy pee. Do you just have to bleach the heck out of it to fix that or am I supposed to just surrender considering I have two boys? Nothing is working so far.

I’m really ready for Fall! Fall is my favorite time of year! Lots of awesome things occur in Fall like my birthday, our anniversary and long sleeve t-shirts!

Lance and I got married on October 2nd and a couple of years ago we decided to go somewhere every year, just the two of us, for our anniversary. Oh. My. Gosh. Totally the best pact we ever made! We went to Seattle last year for almost a week. I think that’s my happy place. I mean come on, how can you look at this and not be happy?

Or this?

So... this year, for our 8th anniversary, guess where we’re going? Yeah, I don’t know either. Your guess is as good as mine. :( We won’t be all fancy this year because we have been so busy and now we are cutting it close. I’m a planner, so since I really don’t have time to plan anything, I’m not sure what we will do. Well, I know what we will do but not sure where we will do it at. ;-)

FYI, I am loving being a stay-at-home-mommy again! I don’t have a clean house to show for it yet, but I’m working on it. I just love being home with my boys when they get out of school!

I’m super excited about Fall... oh wait, I already said that! Ooops!

I went “yard sale-ing” for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I’m pretty terrible at it. My mom and dad have a cabin (by cabin I mean a nice house that looks nothing like a cabin) up in North Georgia, and my mom has recently picked up a new hobby (aka back breaking work) of refurbishing old furniture and selling it in a little consignment shop up there. This is what her garage looks like now...

I’ve gone a couple of times now to help mom find some pieces here in Columbus. I knew I hated having yard sales, but I’m not sure hunting for them is much better. The pros get there like two hours early before people are even set up, but I just cannot make myself be that annoying. Not to mention I don’t think my body functions well before the sun comes up. I’ve found a few things for her, but I get the feeling I’m probably not a huge help. I did find a decent NOT handmade quilt my first go around and I kept that for myself. Ten bucks for a king size quilt... not too bad.

Well y’all, I think I’m out out random stuff to share except for one last thing. I figured I would reward those who make it all the way through to the end of my post with the most exciting (and frightening for me) news. Now when you read it, please don’t gasp too loud. I know it sounds crazy (especially for those who know us and even to those who ARE us) but because it’s so “Say what?” we feel very confident that it’s what God is leading us to do. I promise you, this was not MY idea! When Lance and I talk it over it still sounds so absurd. Ok, ok I will get it out...

Lance and I feel like God is calling us to adopt a little girl... at least... possibly two siblings.

Wow! That feels so weird to actually type it out!

We never ever considered adoption until about 3 years ago. God began to show us how we ourselves are adopted through the work of grace, and we saw adoption as a beautiful example of the gospel. You can read my other blog about that here. Of course, when all this began we were like, “Yeah, ok God... maybe, but it will be like 10 years down the road, because... well, look at us. That’s just totally impossible right now.” I think God laughs at the impossible!

As I mentioned in a previous post, Brayden began praying for a sister a few months back. That’s really where we began to hear the whispers of God about us adopting sooner rather than later. In July we went to a business conference in Texas and He showed us a vehicle that would help us reach the major financial goals associated with adoption. A couple of weeks after we returned from Texas, our pastor shared a quote that seemed like a very odd quote for him to share. He's not very quote happy and when he does share quotes it's usually very specific to the gospel. I felt it was a confirmation of what we were feeling. Here is what he shared:

There is something inherently inappropriate about cherishing small ambitions for God. -John Stott

Over the course of the last two months, God has slowly began to match our affections to his call. Now, there is not a day goes by that I don’t think about adopting. I wonder what she (or they) will look like and what it will feel like to hold a child that is mine by providence but not by blood. I cannot wrap my brain around it really. It seems so unrealistic, but at the same time something is driving me toward what is totally illogical. Logic says, "You have two kids. Why do you need more? You can't afford $30k for an adoption. You don't have a big enough house or even a big enough car! You've got too much on your plate already. You can't handle an adoption!" but we aren't hearing the logic we are hearing Jesus' words, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Lance and I decided fairly early that we would want to adopt internationally and from a country where the gospel is not free to be preached... where little ears are likely to never hear the name of Jesus. That quickly narrowed down our selection. I think I kind of expected God to just mystically reveal the country to us, but after listening to wisdom from several friends who are in the middle of the adoption process, I realized that God can use simple ways to reveal his will to us. It doesn't have to be all "thunder and lightening from heaven." We prayed that he would show us the direction we ought to go in and he answered our prayers.

I started here:

This is a map of restricted nations across the world that I found on the Voice of the Martyrs website. I was able to read about the different countries and then cross research the ones that were open for adoption. This process quickly narrowed our countries down to about 5 or 6. After a bit more research, we eliminated all but two because of unstable programs and then from there we feel we have settled on one. While this is not set in stone yet, we feel a peace about moving forward with adopting from [country in Asia]. It seems to be a good match. There are actually several other families in our community who are about half way through their adoption from [country in Asia]. I think that's kind of neat.

We plan, God willing, to officially begin the process before the year is out. Yikes! So, here’s where you come in. We need your prayers so desperately. Honestly, this scares the mess out of me! It kind of makes me feel like I’m in a free fall with no control over anything. We know God will provide what we need to fulfill his call, no matter how impossible it seems, but we also know that we must cover this process with prayer. Please pray for us if and when we come to your mind.

I will update along the way, but I don’t plan to make a huge spectacle of this. This is not about us, but about the glory of God. As I mentioned above, there have been quite a few families adopting in our church and in our community. I know some will say, "Oh you're just jumping on the bandwagon. Adoption has become popular." Let me assure you there are plenty of bandwagons that I may jump on like skinny jeans or a style of music or a popular book, but when the "bandwagon" completely changes my family's future and cost upwards of $30,000 I will not be "jumping on" for the heck of it. Maybe, just MAYBE God is moving on the hearts of his people and maybe people are hearing and answering the call. Maybe. :)

So yeah, we plan to adopt... please pray.

To end on a less serious note, here's one last picture...

Until next time! Be blessed! -K

Love Me or Hate Me

****This turned into a radom thoughts post. Too much bouncing around in this little brain of mine.****

“Love me or hate me, both are in my favor…If you love me, I'll always be in your heart…If you hate me, I'll always be in your mind.”
 William Shakespeare

This should be the company motto for Netflix, because I am quite certain I am not the only one who has a love/hate relationship with this piece of technology. They crushed my sweet mommy heart when they removed EV-ER-Y Wiggle movie!! Why?!? Must be a bunch of single men running the show! But I must admit that Netflix is one of my best babysitters and is much of the reason I get a daily shower.

Brayden hasn't figured out the whole "search" thing yet. He says "Look for Petter Pan". I type P-A-N and nothing comes up. He freaks out because I didn't enter the whole thing. This is where the grace of God helps me not to say a string of curse words. But what do I know? I mean, he is 5 WHOLE years old and I am only 28. Obviously, he knows more about Netflix than I do! Here's a picture for you...

I cut my hair off yesterday. Yeah, I know, there wasn't much there to cut in the first place, but it's definitely shorter. I had her chop off the stylish longer bangs that I so stylishly pinned back with a clip everyday. Think Halle Berry short hair on a pale white girl's body.

Speaking of pale white girl... Y'all! I cannot get my legs to tan to save my life. What the heck?! We've been going to the pool for a couple of hours every other day to let the boys swim, and no tan legs. I'm pretty sure when I was younger my legs would tan. Even wearing white shorts they still look albino white! What happened to 1/16 of me that is American Indian?

So yesterday I made homemade pot roast, mashed potatoes and field peas. By "homemade" I mean I put the packaged roast  and canned peas in the microwave and poured potato flakes into a pan... in my my very own home = homemade. If you ask nicely I'll send you the recipe. Contrary to how it sounds, it was actually really good for a quick meal. Even Asher loved it! See?

Brayden, on the other hand, did not...

He said, "My belly hurts REALLY bad... because of YOU!" Yes, my precious little sugar dumplin... your horrible mother and father will continue to make you eat what we cook, because contrary to your belief, it's not healthy for you to survive on Frosted Flakes and Mac-n-Cheese.

Sooooo, when Brayden is not complaining about the voluntary IBS I have inflicted upon him, he is asking for a sister. Yep. I'm not sure why, but I never really expected this from him. I remember I used to beg for a brother or sister when I was little but that's because I was an only child for 12 years. I just didn't see this coming! He's also been praying every night, "God, thank you for today. Thank your for your grace and mercy and all you do for us. Please give me a sister."

God, I know you have a sense of humor, but if I turn up pregnant after having my tubes double tied (according to Dr. Rich) I'm seriously not going to be laughing.

My sciatic nerve has been killing me for a week! It's made me lazy and I have not run my sprints all week. Shameful, I know!

And last random thought.... I've lived in Georgia all my life and this morning was the first time ever that I have eaten a fresh peach for breakfast. Ain't it purtty? It even had a cute little peach dimple. :)

Until next time! - K
