Adoption Timeline

September 2009 - God began to change our hearts and call us to adoption.

July 2012 - God reminded us of his call for us to adopt and impressed upon us that now was the time.

September 2012 - We made an official decision to adopt two little girls from India and we told our families and friends.

November 14, 2012 - We mailed our application to ICIA, our agency.

November 19, 2012 - ICIA accepts our application.

November 20, 2012 - Spoke with Lifeline about details of our home study process.

December 1, 2012 - India puts a hold on all new adoption applications to work through backlog.

December 17, 2012 - Lifeline Children Services accepts our application for contracted home study.

December 19, 2012 - Raised just over $3,000 so far. Still need about $47,000.

December 20, 2012 - Began working on filling out forms, writing our autobiography, etc.

January 03, 2013 - Completed application and finger printing for GBI background check.

January 15, 2013 - First home study visit with Lifeline.

January 17, 2013 - Second home study visit with Lifeline.

January 18, 2013 - Began and completed Hague-Compliant Training.

January 22, 2013 - Completed finger printing and mailed application for FBI background check.

February 7, 2013 - Third home study visit with Lifeline.

February 14, 2013 - Received unofficial REFERRAL for 3 Sisters! First pictures!

February 15, 2013 - We said "yes" to moving forward with the girls.

February 16, 2013 - Received email about negative court rulings. We were encouraged to wait for another referral.

February 22, 2013 - Fourth and final home study visit with Lifeline.

March 8 & 9, 2013 - First Hope for the Fatherless Consignment Sale.

March 14, 2013 - Received email that ICIA had begun advocating for us to adopt the girls.

March 28, 2013 - India partially opens back up for new international applications (for special needs).

March 29, 2013 - Gave the girls back to the Lord with intentions of returning to our previous plan for adopting 1-2 girls.

April 1, 2013 - Received email from ICIA saying they were ready to match us with the girls.

April 3, 2013 - Received digital copies of their referrals.

April 4, 2013 - We said "yes" once again to the girls.

April 24, 2013 - Homestudy was approved by Lifeline.

April 25, 2013 - Registered with India.

April 29, 2013 - Mailed contract and I800A to ICIA.

May 15, 2013 - Made public announcement about the girls.

May 16, 2013 - Started fundraising to get the $15,000 needed to send to orphanage.

May 22, 2013 - Mailed our dossier to ICIA along with checks for $15,000.

May 25, 2013 - Hope for the Fatherless Yardsale.

May 30. 2013 - Received $3,000 matching grant from Jeeah's Hope.

June, 2013 - Still waiting for the official match with the girls.

July 12, 2013 - Informed that Mrs. K was going to speak to authorities at CARA on our behalf.

July 15, 2013 - Received our notice of receipt from USCIS (I-800A). Date received July 5 and date of notice July 9

July 22, 2013 - Received appointment for biometric fingerprinting from USCIS (I-800A). Dated July 16.

August 1, 2013 - Mrs. K was asked to put request to match us in writing but said they could make match.

August 8, 2013 - Appointment for biometric fingerprinting in Atlanta

September, 2013 - Still waiting for the official match with the girls. They say they will do it but still nothing.

September 7, 2013 - Hope For The Fatherless Consignment Sale (Fall)

September 13, 2013 - Received request for evidence from USCIS. Mailed new copies. Emailed 08/16 the corrected letter.

September 16, 2013 - Received I-800A approval from USCIS. (via email and then in mail)

September 19, 2013 - Received call from agency informing us we had lost referral for the girls.

September 20, 2013 - Reached our matching grant goal of $3,000 for a total of $6,000 through Jeeah's Hope Grant.

October 9, 2013 - Lance got email from our agency about the representative's meeting with CARA that took place somewhere around September 25th. Waiting to see what CARA does to "fix" things.

November 3, 2013 - (Orphan Sunday) Learned about Eden and saw her face for the first time

November 11, 2013 - We asked our agency to inquire about Eden.

December 1, 2013 - Contact made with the orphanage. Waiting on Eden's CSR.

December 5, 2013 - Found out our friend's surgeon sponsors Eden.

December 6, 2013 - Received Eden's CSR via email!

December 8, 2013 - Sent email saying we wanted to move forward with adopting Eden!

January 2014 - Still waiting for official match with Eden.

January 8, 2014 - Received call from agency director say we had been officially matched... with K, K and R (the girls we lost in Sept)

January 21, 2014 - Mailed I-800 for girls

February 8, 2014 - Received official referrals in the mail, signed them, copied them and mailed them back off.

March 8, 2014 - Both Hands Project!

March 10, 2014 - Received letter of receipt from USCIS for I-800's. Received March 3 and dated March 5.

March 11, 2014 - Mailed off two more copies of form 864.

March 14, 2014 - Finished application for JSC Grant.

March 17, 2014 - Received RFE for updated 864 form (Dated March 13)

March 24, 2014 - Received verbal confirmation of I-800 approvals (approved March 21)

March 27, 2014 - Received I-800 approvals in the mail

March 28, 2014 - Received our Visa case numbers and Invoice IDs from National Visa Center via email

March 27, 2014 - Umbrella Agency IFI lost Hague accreditation

March 31, 2014 - Received visa/passport photos for the girls.

April 1, 2014 - Received email response from US Embassy that they have not received our case.

April 2, 2014 - Received email response from NVC that they have sent our case to US Embassy

April 2, 2014 - Completed DS 260 online for all three girls and emailed US Embassy with confirmation and visa photos

April 3, 2014 - Received email from US Embassy stating they had received our DS 260 confirmation.

April 7, 2014 - Signed and mailed off corrected referral page for Rabina.

April 7, 2014 - Sent in application and IFI transfer fee to new umbrella agency, AWAA.

April 10, 2014 - Mailed our contract to AWAA

April 11, 2014 - Received email from US Embassy stating they needed proof that we were with new agency in order to proceed with our case.

April 16, 2014 - Sent email to US Embassy to check on status of our Article 5 and give them a copy of our signed agreement with AWAA.

April 17, 2014 - Received email from US Embassy with ARTICLE 5 LETTERS!!!

May 5, 2014 - Mailed passports off to be renewed.

May 5, 2014 - FULLY FUNDED!!!!!

May 16, 2014 - ARC and NOC!!!! (Dated May 13)

June 7-30, 2014 - Courts closed for summer break

June 27, 2014 - Visa Appointment in Atlanta

July 9, 2014 - Got passports with 10 year visas in the mail.

July 18, 2014 - RIPA requested updated Power of Attorney. Mailed same day.

July 21, 2014 - Cases entered into court. Hearing #1 scheduled for August 14.

August 14, 2014 - Scrutiny report entered into court. Hearing #2 scheduled for September 2.

September 2, 2014 - Petition of Evidence heard. Hearing #3 scheduled for September 9.

September 9, 2014 - PASSED COURT!!!!!

September 26, 2014 - Learned we have written orders and passports are in the works!

September 29, 2014 - Passports applied for.

October 16, 2014 - Orphanage confirmed our travel dates so we booked our plane tickets!

October 21, 2014 - Informed passports were done (dated October 16th). Booked hotel.

November 5, 2014 - Launch Day! Plane leaves 8:15pm from ATL!

November 10, 2014 - GOTCHA DAY!!!!!!!!!

November 11, 2014 - Medical Appointments

November 12, 2014 - Embassy Appointment

November 18, 2014 - Reentry Day! Plane lands in ATL around 2:30pm!
